Woke up the last saturday to this news :
http://www.ndtv.com/news/photos/album-deta...m=homePageWatch

A plane travelling from Dubai to Mangalore landed at the airport and for some reason yet unknown overshot the runway and crashed into the hilly terrain catching fire.
Around 158 people have died in this crash. Right now 12 people have yet to be identified and for this they are conducting DNA tests.

Well, this place mangalore is where I went to college and its about 3 hours from my place. so the majority of the people using this airport are either from mangalore or my place ( north kerala)
I've been to this airport a couple of times- the last time being to drop my elder brother.

Cant imagine such a big disaster taking place so close to us. Feels weird somehow.
And so many tragic stories. One person and some of his family members had come down for his wedding.
Another family (about 16 members it seems) had come to attend the funeral of the mother of some of them. The mother had passed away the previous day.

Who knows what fate keeps in store for us ?

Your comments seemed to break down the 'barrier' of spectacle and made the tragedy more real.

I read about a man who lost his wife, his children, and several other people in his family. Just heartbreaking. May they all find comfort in Him.

I guess the rumor is the pilot was coming in high and fast all along and should have just gone around. I guess we'll find out more as the investigation continues.

well, that seems to be a possiblity bcos the runway is 8000 feet while the plane cleared just 2000 feet before overshooting.
and its also possible that there was some technical problem cos the tire had burst and it seems the pilot had tried to abort the landing.

what i really dislike is the way the media show the images of the family members grieving their loved ones. I feel that is something very personal and not a moment that everyone should have access to. Its sad and it hurts.

Yeah Masood. most of them seem to be like that. People just losing so many loved ones in the span of a few seconds. A single death pains us. so its hard to imagine how a person who has lost his entire family wud feel.

This is a common complaint. Give them their privacy!

Reporter: And how did you feel when your entire family was killed in the crash?

We don't need to know and he doesn't need to ask.
