That will also generate billions of dollars that we can invest in solar, wind, biodiesel and other alternative energy approaches.
How does bankrupting someone generate billions of dollars? What am I missing here.

Obamania has been in the air for quite a while now, and I think because of that, people are thinking Obama is in the lead.
I think McCain has a chance too, this article talks about it:
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/27494746/?GT1=43001
This is a bit off topic but- some argue that race is going to be a factor if Obama loses votes or not, but it might also be a factor if he wins. There are many people who are voting for him only because of his race.
I still haven't voted, going to wake up 6am on Election Day to vote, want to be the first in line!!

Looks like that is not the entire statement. Two issues being said here. One, they will phase out coal with heavy penalties. Two, they will encourage renewable energy that will generate billions.

Judging by the two campaigns, I think McCain and Palin camp knows the outcome and is just hoping for something to come by and change it.

Let me sort of describe my overall policy.
What I’ve said is that we would put a cap and trade system in place that is as aggressive, if not more aggressive, than anybody else’s out there.
I was the first to call for a 100% auction on the cap and trade system, which means that every unit of carbon or greenhouse gases emitted would be charged to the polluter. That will create a market in which whatever technologies are out there that are being presented, whatever power plants that are being built, that they would have to meet the rigors of that market and the ratcheted down caps that are being placed, imposed every year.
So if somebody wants to build a coal-powered plant, they can. It’s just that it will bankrupt them because they’re going to be charged a huge sum for all that greenhouse gas that’s being emitted.
That will also generate billions of dollars that we can invest in solar, wind, biodiesel and other alternative energy approaches.
The only thing I’ve said with respect to coal, I haven’t been some coal booster. What I have said is that for us to take coal off the table as a ideological matter as opposed to saying if technology allows us to use coal in a clean way, we should pursue it.
So if somebody wants to build a coal-powered plant, they can.
It’s just that it will bankrupt them.

Couldn't find the Gore Beats Bush one
It's going to be a very very close race. To declare a winner is foolish.
Either way, this is a term that will go into history and we all get to watch it happen.
Either we'll have our 1st Biracial President, or 1st Female Vice President.

And that will reflect the real issue behind this campaign. "Obama better win or we will riot and call it 'racism' or worse".
