DEEP-FRIED RATTLESNAKE

1 medium-sized rattlesnake (3-4 lbs.), cut into steaks

1/2 cup flour

1/4 cup cornmeal

1/4 cup cracker crumbs

1/2 cup milk

1 egg

1/4 teaspoon garlic powder (not garlic salt)

1 teaspoon salt

dash pepper

Mix dry ingredients. Whisk milk into beaten egg and use to dip snake steaks. Then coat them with dry ingredients. Fry, uncovered, in 400 degree oil until brown.

This gives me the creeps just reading it but there are people who eat it (not me!!). smiley29.gif

You have to catch the thing first. Potatoes don't bite.

I've eaten snake before, the texture is hard to describe - a little on the chewy side- and the flavor was pretty bland.

Don't get me started about eating disgusting things, especially raw, I've lived in Japan, Korea and the Philippines.

Don't they eat dogs in China? and in Japan, well I've done some research and they've let some cannibals loose over there. Theyre pretty much celebrities in Japan.

The grossest thing I ever consumed was pickled turkey gizzards in a bar just outside of Milwaulkee on a bet during my 18th birthday.

I got sick shortly afterward. My sister ate snake in elementary school, a teacher brought it in. She went home sick that day. I grew up on a pond and catching bullfrogs and frying their legs was a neighborhood fun time. It really DOES taste like chicken legs...

Of course they eat cats in other cultures, and we love them as pets. We eat cows and they are sacred in India (funny we don't have Hindu's trying to forbid this in America)...it's all relative, like when I watched videos in high school where tribes in Africa ate bug/grub meals as if they were nectar from heaven.
